Action1 Expands to Linux for Unified Cross-Platform Endpoint & Patch Management

November 20, 2025

By Gene Moody

First 200 endpoints free, no feature limits.

No credit card required, full access to all features.

The long-awaited update is here. Action1 now supports Linux.

Managing mixed OS environments just got simpler, safer, and faster. With this update, Action1 delivers unified autonomous endpoint management and patching across Windows, macOS, and Linux from a single user-friendly platform, purpose-built for enterprise IT and MSSPs who need unified management at scale.

From now on, you can protect your IT environment with greater simplicity, control, and flexibility to minimize downtime, reduce the time and cost of patching, and keep every single endpoint across your network secure and compliant.

Linux Support Details

We’re starting with support for Ubuntu and Debian (latest LTS versions), while Red Hat support is actively in development and expected to arrive by the end of 2025, with additional Linux distributions planned for future releases as we continue expanding platform coverage.

What Else Is New?

Beyond Linux support, we’ve released several improvements that enhance Action1 across all operating systems:

  • Enterprise-wide global reports and dashboard — You can now monitor all endpoints, reports, dashboards, and vulnerabilities across multiple organizations or business units without switching between them. The organization selector includes an “Entire Enterprise” option that aggregates data from all accessible organizations and adds an Organization” column for context. This gives IT teams and MSPs unified real-time insights across their entire infrastructure, enabling faster vulnerability remediation at scale.
  • PowerShell script signing — Optional enforcement for trusted, digitally signed scripts helps compliance-driven organizations enforce security policies.
  • Alternative port for agent communications — Agent communication now occurs over port 443 by default, with port 22543 as a fallback, reducing firewall configuration complexity in enterprise networks and simplifying deployment in environments that restrict outbound traffic.
  • Improved update rings logic — Refined logic improves patch validation accuracy and rollout tracking, ensuring well-tested, more reliable patch deployments that don’t cause outages. The “Y endpoints successfully deployed” condition has been removed, while “First successfully deployed X days ago” is now mandatory to ensure results reflect real-world device activity. We’ve also renamed “Exclude/Include” actions to “Pause/Resume” for better clarity.
  • New software repository packages for macOS and Windows — With 25 new Windows and 18 new macOS packages, Action1 expands coverage for third-party application patching and software deployment. The latest additions include Adobe Illustrator 2026, Adobe Photoshop 2026, Docker Desktop, Microsoft Edge, and many others. All packages are delivered from Action1’s privately maintained software repository, ensuring that only safe, verified, and malware-free updates reach your endpoints, rather than relying on less-secure community-maintained alternatives such as Winget.

Why Unified Patch Management Matters

Action1 President and Co-founder Mike Walters explains: “When you need to patch a critical vulnerability today, you need a patching solution that just works on every endpoint. You should not worry about where to obtain the correct patch, how to apply it, or how to do it fast. By uniformly supporting Linux alongside Windows and macOS, we’re giving IT teams one platform to patch and manage everything and the enterprise-grade scale, automation, and control they expect.

“We built Action1 for real-world enterprise environments—complex, mixed, and global,” added Walters. “With this release, we continue to listen to customer needs and deliver autonomous enterprise patch management that just works, with all complexities hidden under the hood.”
