Free Software Deployment and Software Distribution - Cloud Based

Action1 is a free cloud-based software deployment and distribution tool. Manage the software deployment process from the Cloud, remotely install software over the network and automate your entire software distribution system.

Running in the Cloud, Action1 software packaging and deployment tool requires no installation, maintenance, or multi-step configuration procedures. Action1 works equally fast on a network of 100 computers and 100,000 computers. As the number of your endpoints grows, Action1 will scale the backend infrastructure for you and let you focus on what matters most: managing software updates and automated software installations.

Software Deployment and Distribution

Action1 remote software deployment tool automates your software deployment process, allowing you to streamline deployment of software packages (MSI and EXE) to networked computers connected to Action1 Cloud.

Software distribution becomes easier thanks to the ability to remotely install software over the network on multiple computers at once. The administrator specifies a package from a network location or URL and Action1 does all the rest automatically.

Software Deployment and Distribution

Remotely Install MSI and EXE Packages

Whether it’s packaged as MSI or a simple EXE-based installer, Action1 can perform remote deployment of any software on the entire network. It silently runs unattended installation on your managed endpoints. At the same time, you have total control over the procedure —you can track the progress, force computer reboot if necessary, set the waiting time, etc.

Unlike many other free software distribution tools, Action1 does not rely on Group Policy for rolling out updates and pushing software deployments. Your managed endpoints can belong to a single LAN or domain, or be spread all over the world.

Remotely Uninstall Unreliable Software

With Action1, it’s easy to take care of your IT assets. Browse a detailed software inventory to discover potentially harmful or unreliable apps and services. You can stop or force uninstall them remotely from all managed workstations at once. Running unattended, Action1 will not disturb your colleagues or cause any downtime.

While being a free software deployment tool, Action1 is equipped with alerting functionality and can report on suspicious program installation and startup. Leverage alerts to make informed decisions and uninstall malicious software in the shortest time possible. Mitigate risks as they occur and do not waste precious time on tasks that can be automated. Action1 takes the hassle out of configuration management and administration.

Installing software on multiple computers and making sure the latest updates are distributed on time is a complicated and time-consuming task of its own. And it turns out even harder when most of the endpoints the administrator takes care of are not connected to a corporate LAN. Add here an ever running cycle of continuous integration and continuous delivery, and you'll see that manual configuration management becomes almost impossible. But don't worry, software deployment and distribution tools such as Action1 are designed to specifically assist system administrators and IT managers.

Action1 free tool streamlines administration workflows and automates software deployments. Its capabilities go far beyond command line tools such as wmic or psexec. The administrator can query the entire fleet of workstations in seconds - get access to a complete software and hardware inventory, see the operating systems, the list of installed software with installation dates, versions, etc.

The free version of Action1 helps orchestrate software distribution without downtime and interruptions for your colleagues. Update scheduling and remote software installation come in handy when the endpoint is physically located on the other side of the world and in a different time zone. The installations are performed silently and remotely and can be pushed to any Windows-based devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to install updates?
The software that doesn’t have recent security updates applied is vulnerable and exposed to risks. It is highly advisable to install security patches and updates for the operating system and the applications that you use on a daily basis.

2. How do I find what updates and hotfixes are missing?
On Windows, all missing OS updates and KBs are listed here: “Control Panel \ System and Security \ Windows Update”. For other software products (Adobe, Oracle, etc.) check their websites to download the recent updates. Consider using software distribution tools to speed up the process.

3. Can I deploy software on remote computers?
If the servers are connected to a corporate domain, you can leverage psexec or wmic utilities to force software installation. If the endpoints are isolated, for example belonging to remote employees, consider using a distribution tool such as Action1 for handling remote software deployment.

4. How can Action1 help with software distribution and deployment?
Action1 enables you to install software from a centralized Cloud-based location — the App Store. It contains the most commonly used software packages such as Cloud storage apps, Abode products, and message apps. With Action1 you can distribute and deploy apps and updates on multiple computers at the same time.
