At Action1, we offer a full-featured IT management platform for free. This isn’t a limited demo or a restricted version. Free users get the same tools and capabilities as paying customers. That decision reflects our belief in accessibility, but it also carries responsibility.
To protect the integrity of the platform, we now require all accounts to go through a basic identity verification process.
Why Verification Is Necessary
Our move toward account verification came in response to serious and credible reports. Authorities informed us that malicious actors were abusing our free tier to coordinate cyberattacks. These individuals were creating large numbers of fake accounts and using them to operate infrastructure behind the scenes.
This wasn’t theoretical. If we hadn’t responded quickly, endpoint security tools like antivirus and EDR systems might have started labeling our software as malicious. That would have been catastrophic for the businesses that depend on Action1 for legitimate use.
We took immediate action to stop the abuse and protect our customers.
Free Use Still Comes With Accountability
The platform we give away is the same as the one we sell. That includes the same codebase, agent, features, and remote control capabilities. It is a powerful system.
But power without accountability opens the door to risk. That’s why we can’t allow anonymous usage, even in the free tier.
Verification is how we ensure that the person behind each account is real and using the platform for legitimate purposes
Designed With Real Users in Mind
We’ve made sure the verification process is practical and respectful. It is:
- Secure: We do not see or store your personal data.
- Flexible: We provide multiple options for verification.
- Purpose-built: Verification is only used to confirm identity. It is not used for marketing or tracking.
We understand that it may be a small extra step. But in return, everyone benefits from a safer and more reliable platform.
Keeping the Platform Open and Safe
Our goal is to keep the free tier available and sustainable. But doing so requires thoughtful guardrails. Account verification is one of those guardrails.
We are committed to maintaining access for responsible users and to providing support for anyone who needs help completing the process. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out. We’re always ready to help.
