Desktop messenger and chat applications, such as Skype, WhatsAp, Viber are very popular among users, because of their ease of use and convenience, however, they present substantial risks to organizations. Lack of control over data sharing could lead to privacy policy violations and data leaks, resulting in sensitive customer data shared with someone outside of the organization by accident or intentionally.

This query shows all installed and/or running messenger apps on your network and allows you to create alerts when any new applications are installed or started. You can display all installed apps or just those currently started by users. Such as you can determine which computers have Skype installed and which users have it running in their logon sessions. This query is also able to determine if certain apps are being run in portable mode, such as Miranda IM started from a USB drive.

By default, it searches for most popular apps and Applications parameter contains comma-separated pairs in the format of appname:exename and you can add more applications to search (such as add Viber:viber.exe).
