Shows endpoints that have Skype, Slack, WhatsApp, Trillian or other IM applications installed, with install date, install location and version |
Usage of unapproved desktop IM apps in organizations can lead to serious consequences, including increased exposure to phishing attacks, data leaks (such as sensitive customer data shared with someone outside of the organization by accident or intentionally), compliance violations and more. This free tool allows you to determine endpoints with instant messenger apps installed (Skype, Slack, WhatsApp, Trillian and others) or receive alerts when new IM programs are installed by your users. It can be used to perform Skype for Business monitoring, track usage of non-business apps, such as WhatsApp or Viber and perform general monitoring of instant messaging for security and compliance purposes.
Action1 shows all installed and/or running messenger apps on your network and allows you to create alerts when any new applications are installed or started. You can display all installed apps or just those currently started by users. Such as you can determine which computers have Skype installed and which users have it running in their logon sessions. It’s also able to determine if certain apps are being run in portable mode, such as Miranda IM started from a USB drive.
By default, Action1 searches for most popular apps and Applications parameter contains comma-separated pairs in the format of appname:exename and you can add more applications to search (such as add Viber:viber.exe).
Sign-up for Action1 Free Edition to receive real-time alerts and view instant data from your endpoints, such as alert on Instant Messenger and Chat Applications created, deleted or modified or run live or scheduled queries with the ability to export to CSV or Excel. Action1 Endpoint Security Platform is entirely SaaS, with online web interface (no management tools to install) and it has zero cost for basic functionality. Running in the Cloud, Action1 discovers all of your endpoints in seconds and you can query your entire network in plain English.
